The company was founded on 29 March, 1939 by Karel and Marie Penicka with a view to growing plants in warm conditions. It was the first in the republic in growing orchids for cutting their blooms. But on 15 December, 1959 the prospering company was stolen by the Bolshevik. The new time history has been being written since 28 June, 1991 when the Bolshevik had to give back what he had stolen. When he had occupied the gardener`s in 1959, all the greenhouses newly built in 1957-59 were full of goods. For forty years nobody invested in them and that was why the daughter of the founder, Marie Sehnalkova, was given back the half-ruined empty greenhouses. The Bolshevik was not ashamed to take away all the clay too. In spite of all the problems, the gardener`s was newly open. In 1993 the company started the international business – the import of cut flowers from growers.
